Micaela is a smart, beautiful and funny little girl with tons, tons, but seriously tons of energy! She might grow up to be a future president, superhero, singer, dancer, athlete, talk show host, comedian, astronaut, or daredevil, as she amazes us every day with new things she has learnt...especially the last one. This blog is my way of treasuring our daily life with our little one!

Preschool is almost over... Eek!
I know it was coming and I thought I was ready....
....But I am not ready!
In a few days I will see my little Micaela in her graduation ceremony, the first one of many to come (I hope!). I will try to hold my tears back but cannot promise that will be able to do so. Soon I will see her with a new uniform, a new backpack, and a new lunch box... And it makes me as anxious as my pretty girl is. Will she adapt? Will she make friends? Will she be teased? Will she still miss me? With her, I am all positivity and smiles, but inside I am a ball of nerves. Rationally, I know that she will adapt, that she will make friends (to add up to the ones she already has), and that she will miss me (even when she can have a blast playing).
…but she looks so big and so small all at the same time…
....But I am not ready!
There is no going back. School is such a milestone. An irrevocable one. And as excited as I am about seeing how Micaela will change and adapt to any new environment, it is so bittersweet.

A well deserved 2015 update :)
Micaela is quickly approaching her 5th birthday (can you believe it?!) and more and more as she grows she becomes this complex little person with her own thoughts, reasoning and ideas – "Mommy, I know you have bought me a carnivorous plant to teach me about plants and because you want it to eat the bugs that come in our house but, have you also thought about the flies, the mosquitoes, the bugs and their poor families once my plant eats them? What if they have babies waiting for them in their houses? Oh! I know! Maybe they will think that their mommy or daddy was a superhero because she or he died so that the plant would be full and would not want to eat them later!” (I couldn’t make this stuff up!). I feel like I really need to sit down and write a little update about my princess Micaela:
1. "I have a plan”: She is always about coming up with a solution, mapping out a plan or negotiating a resolution (she has become an expert at this). If something goes wrong or a mistake has been made: “it’s ok!, do not worry!, I’ve got a great idea…”.
2. A performer: She recites songs learnt from preschool; reenact dance routines, daily events, or movies we have watched. Just the other day I noticed that she was acting in her room… then I realized that she was actually pretending to be me on the phone with a client while she was convincing her to buy a website.
3. Confident: Micaela loves to talks to “strangers” – asks questions and tells stories. Just the other day she started a very interesting conversation with the lady who sells the loto at the supermarket and the one who was guarding the store.
4. Princesses and superheroes: My baby girl is in full swing imaginary play mode and seems to alternate between the two obsessions. For the past week she has been reenacting rescue superhero scenes and all her favorite Disney movies (by all I truly mean ALL!). One of her favorite games nowadays is for me or her dad to give her clues so that she can guess the character.
5. Cheeky: She is at the age of testing boundaries, which is normal, but incredibly frustrating. Micaela has run away from me, several times, to go to her grandma’s house (lucky us that she lives next door inside a private condo) or starts a battle with me every night while she tries to make me think that sleeping does not help her at all and therefore she does not need it.
Everyday Micaela makes us proud; she makes us smile, laugh, and become a little frustrated too… hihihi!

My Micaela...
Micaela: confident, amazing, cheeky, creative, stubborn, independent, head-strong, silly, clever, and very cuddly.
Loves: superheroes (Black Widow, Cat Woman, Honey Lemon, Go-Go, and many other), animals, pretty dresses, make-up, books, play-doh, princesses, drawing, singing, and performing.
Hates: being told what to do!
Milestones: writing her name, some other simple words, and coloring inside the lines :)
