Over these past short weeks Micaela has had a “brain explosion”. It’s like all of a sudden her ability to understand and learn new concepts has increased ten-fold. And as exciting as it is, the bittersweet part of watching your child grow up so fast is missing their earlier stages.
I look at her now and I’m left wondering where my baby has gone. But as more of Micaela’s cheeky, inquisitive and loving personality emerges, the more we fall in love with her.
Our little princess has becoming more affectionate and offers hugs and kisses without being prompted — often she will give us giant “group hugs” and then erupts into giggles.
We can have mini conversations and although her verbal communication is limited she still get you point across and is able to understand and respond to questions and instructions.
We are often surprised at the warp speed that she picks up new words and concepts.
And she has started picking out her own clothes. I will offer her a choice of two outfits and invariably she will select anything with a cute animal or picture on it.
Watching her grow into this little girl is truly a delight and a privilege. I love her more than I knew I ever could.
